IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM DR. AURIEMMA 11-13-09

The Pearl River School District provides this webpage as an information source on the district's preventative approaches and preparedness for possible H1N1 flu among our students and staff.

As the prevalence of flu spreads across the nation and Rockland County, we remind parents to follow the guidelines set forth by the National Center for Disease Control and the Rockland County Department of Health. These include keeping children with flu at home until they are free of fever for 24 hours without the assistance of fever-reducing medications.

Links to the National Center for Disease Control and the Rockland County Department of Health are provided below. As always, you should seek specific medical information regarding any immediate health concerns from your physician

Thank you,
Dr. John Morgano
Assistant Superintendent
Director of Health Services

Preventative Measures Preparedness

To minimize the spread of possible H1N1 flu, PRSD suggests following recommendations by the following health agencies (click on the agency to access their website):

In addition, the district:

  • Has installed hand sanitizers in all school cafeterias/multi-purpose rooms.
  • Encourages parents to send personal-size hand sanitizers to school with students
  • Encourages all staff and students to assist with litter control throughout our buildings so that our custodial staff may direct more attention to cleaning surfaces

PRSD, along with the other school districts in Rockland County, are working closely with the Rockland County Department of Health to monitor and report cases of H1N1 flu.

In the event that student(s) and or faculty and staff be diagnosed with H1N1, PRSD will follow the recommendations of the Rockland County Department of Health regarding notifications and possible school closures.
