School psychologists work with teachers, parents, and outside resources to promote academic success, address behavioral needs, and enhance the personal well-being of all students. Among the services they provide are: - Administer mandated and non-mandated assessments to determine individual student strengths and needs - Conduct and use interviews and classroom observations, together with assessments noted above, to identify the issues affecting students' academic performance and behavior - Consultation with teachers, administrators and parents - Direct intervention with students including counseling as a related service, groups, crisis intervention, etc. - Program development for students, parents and staff - Serve on the Instructional Support Team providing input into the plan of intervention for individual students - Assist in coordination of screening students entering the district and act as the case managers for students receiving special education services - Serve as mandated members of the Committee on Special Education
