PRSD Health and Wellness Initiatives

In January of 2006, the Pearl River School District formed a School Health Advisory Council  (SHAC).  The committee is a broad based representation of teachers, parents, health professionals, food service providers, and administrators.  In its advisory role, the committee meets three times per year to review nutrition, nutrition education, health education and physical education/activity, to promote student health and wellness in an effort reduce childhood obesity and diet-related diseases.  In addition this committee was instrumental in drafting the Pearl River Wellness Policy adopted by the Board of Education May 30, 2006.SchoolCenter Picture
