BOE Election 2019

2019-20 Board of Education Election

There are two seats open for the Board of Education.  Two candidates are running for these positions, incumbents Robert Davis and Christine Reddy. 
The term commences on July 1, 2019 and runs through June 30, 2022. 
As Mr. Davis and Mrs. Reddy are running unopposed, our tentative candidates' night, originally scheduled for May 14th, has been cancelled. 

Elections will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, together with the Annual School Budget Vote, in Pearl River High School's Pirate Cove from 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM.  

The biographies of Mr. Davis and Mrs. Reddy are listed below:

Robert Davis

Residence and Family: District resident for over 48 years, currently on Gilbert Avenue with wife, Caryn, and three grown children: Robby, Michael, and Cle. 

Education: Graduated from Pearl River High School; B.S. in Zoology and minor in chemistry from University of Rhode Island; MBA from Long Island University. Certificates of completion in school district finances.

Career: Responsible for Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement within Quality Operations  at Pfizer in Pearl River; Experience as a substitute science and math teacher at PRHS and PRMS.

Community Involvement: Current vice-president and school board member since 2003.  He served three terms as BOE president, and has served five terms as vice president. Formerly served as a member of the Rockland County BOCES Board of Education and formerly served on PRSD Facilities Committee.  He has an active history in the community. 

Mr. Davis coached Pearl River Little League, Orangetown Mighty Midget Football and Soccer, and St. Aedan's CYO Basketball.  In 2004, Mr. Davis was inducted into the Pearl River High School Sports Hall of Fame. He participates in Pfizer Community Programs and is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Pearl River Elks Club, and St. Aedan's parish.

Mission: “I am committed to ensuring that our students receive an excellent education while maintaining fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers. I have been honored and privileged to serve on the PRSD Board of Education for the last 15 years and I look forward to continuing to use my experience and knowledge to further the goals of our school district.”


Christine Reddy

Residence and Family: District resident for 20 years, currently on Veterans Parkway with husband, William, and two sons: Robbie, who attends Pearl River High School; Liam, who attends Pearl River Middle School.

Education: Graduated from Rockland High School in Rockland, MA; BA from Providence College in Providence, RI;  Juris Doctor degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, NJ.

Career: Currently retired from the practice of law.

Community Involvement:  Has served on the PRSD Board of Education for the last three years; Past president of the Evans Park PTA; Past president and current co-treasurer of the Pearl River Middle School PTA;  Volunteer teacher at St. Aedan’s Church in Pearl River, NY;  Volunteer U12 Manager for younger son’s hockey team.

Mission:  “As a resident of this community with two young children, it has been my pleasure to serve as a PTA president at both Evans Park and the Middle School. I believe in the quality education that all children are receiving in the Pearl River School District and it would be an absolute privilege for me to continue being involved. The Pearl River School District has made some exciting advances in recent years and I look forward to being part of its further development and contributing innovative ideas that are fiscally responsible. It would be an honor to help shape the future of the Pearl River School District and prepare our children for their opportunities and challenges in college or careers, and beyond.”
