Proposition #1: Energy Performance Contract
Voters will be asked to vote on an energy performance contract that will allow PRSD to receive an additional 10% in State Aid for energy conservation improvements that will be funded by energy cost savings and State Aid with no resulting cost to the District. Budget Notice Regarding Transportation
The Pearl River School District, as a result of a bid in the Spring of 2021, has awarded Chestnut Ridge Transportation and Vel Coach Transportation each a five year contract for certain routes starting 7/01/2021 and ending 6/30/2026. The 2021-22 contract costs included in the budget proposition are approximately $2,539,125 and $393,450, respectively. For the remaining four years of the contract, (7/01/22 - 6/30/2026) increases are annually at the CPI rate.
School Board Election Information
Who May Vote - Voter Registration:
In order to vote in the upcoming school budget vote and board elections, voters must be registered with the Rockland County Board of Elections or Pearl River School District. If you are registered but have not voted in a general or school election since 2017, you must re-register. If you are registered but have either moved into the district or moved from one address to another within the district, you must re-register. If you would like to check your registration status, visit the NY Board of Elections website at https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov. Please note that the polling site listed on your NY Board of Elections account is for general elections. All voting for our school budget will take place at Pearl River High School's Pirate Cove.
Due to COVID-19, it is suggested that residents register to vote online through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website at https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application.
To be eligible to register, you must be:
• 18 years of age or older on the day of the vote
• A citizen of the United States
• A resident of the Pearl River School District for at least 30 days prior to the day of the vote
Registered voters unable to make it to the polls during polling hours can request an absentee ballot. Also, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, voters may request an absentee ballot application as an alternative to voting in person at the polling place. Absentee Ballot Application Link
• The application must be received by the District Clerk no later than 7 days before the election if the applicant requests the absentee ballot be mailed.
• The application may be personally delivered to the District Clerk no later than the day before the election between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM at which time an absentee ballot will be issued.
Absentee ballots must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 18th.
