The 2023-24 School Budget Vote & Board of Education Election takes place on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM.

All voting takes place at Pearl River High School's Pirate Cove (located at 275 East Central Avenue).

Pearl River School District has consolidated to one polling place for all voters at Pearl River High School's Pirate Cove.
This does not impact polling places for general elections.

2023-24 Board of Education Election

There is one seat open for the Board of Education, currently held by Dr. Kathleen Ann Kelley. Dr. Kelley is seeking re-election and is running unopposed.  The term commences on July 1, 2023 and runs through June 30, 2026. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 16th, together with the Annual School Budget Vote.

As there is only one candidate, the 2023-24 Candidates’ Night, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 9th, is cancelled.

Board of Education Candidate Biography

Voter Registration

To be eligible to register, you must be:
• 18 years of age or older on the day of the vote;
• A citizen of the United States;
• A resident of the Pearl River School District for at least 30 days prior to the day of the vote.

In order to vote in the upcoming school budget vote and Board of Education elections, voters must be registered with the Rockland County Board of Elections or Pearl River School District.  If you are registered but have not voted in a general or school election since 2019, you must re-register.  If you are registered but have either moved into the district or moved from one address to another within the district, you must re-register. 

If you would like to check your registration status, visit the NY Board of Elections website at https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov.  Please note that the polling site listed on your NY Board of Elections account is for general elections.  All voting for our school budget will take place at Pearl River High School's Pirate Cove.

Absentee Ballots

Absentee Ballots for the School Budget Vote & Board of Education Election must be received by 5:00 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, via USPS mail or drop-off to:

PRSD Administration Building
135 West Crooked Hill Road
Pearl River, NY 10965

In the event that a resident voter does not feel that there is enough time to return ballots via USPS mail, sealed ballots can be dropped off at a contactless drop box located inside the main entrance of the Pearl River School District Administration Building at 135 West Crooked Hill Road during business hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  The box will also be available on the day of the budget vote, Tuesday, May 16th, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Absentee Ballot reminders:

  • Please be sure to sign the oath on the back of the envelope; unsigned ballots cannot be counted;

  • If there are multiple registered voters in the household, each ballot must be sent in its own oath envelope, with the oath signature of the corresponding pre-printed name on the front of the envelope. Envelopes containing multiple ballots cannot be counted;

  • Ballots must be received by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16th. Any ballots received after 5:00 PM, regardless of the USPS postal date, cannot be counted.
