Universal Free Meals Program
The Pearl River School District is participating in the Child Nutrition Universal Free Meals program, which means school breakfast and lunch are free for all students in the 2026-27 school year!
What to expect: PRSD will provide a complete breakfast and lunch to your child at no cost to you. No action is required by families for students to receive free meals. Although they will not be charged for meals, students will still need to use their PIN at checkout.
A few notes:
- Free does not mean unlimited; whether it’s food, milk, juice or condiments.
- Per state guidelines, to qualify as a free meal, students must choose a full meal which consists of three out of five required components: milk, fruit, vegetables, grain and protein (one must be a fruit or vegetable).
- If the required components are not taken, the meal is not free.
Families are still encouraged to apply for educational benefits linked to free and reduced-price school meals. Enrollment is confidential and enables eligible students to receive waivers for college application fees, qualify for AP exam reductions and more. Applications are posted on the Food Service website. Once processed, your application status will be sent via email.
Please reach out to Daniela DiToma in the Business Office at ditomad@pearlriver.org with any questions.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides monthly electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase eligible food items. SNAP helps individuals and families with limited incomes, including working households, older adults, people with disabilities, and others afford nutritious food. Eligibility and benefit amounts are determined based on household size, income, and other factors. SNAP benefits can help families maintain access to healthy food and can be used at authorized grocery stores and other participating food retailers.
Additional information and application links can be found on the Food Services website.
