UPK Registration Process

 

Pearl River School District's registration for 2026-27 Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) is now open.

  • Children must be four (4) years old on or before December 1, 2026 to be eligible for admission to UPK in September 2026.
  • Children must be residents of the Pearl River School District. 
  • Early childhood programs with qualified teachers at local preschools.
  • Children enrolled in a half day program attend 2 ½ hours per day, daily, for the duration of the school year (180 days).
  • Children enrolled in a full day program attend 5 hours per day, daily, for the duration of the school year (180 days).
  • There is no cost to families.
  • Transportation and food are the responsibility of the family.

    On Thursday, February 5th, Rockland BOCES offered a virtual UPK Information Meeting for PRSD parents whose child(ren) will be starting UPK in September 2026.  The following are a recording of the meeting, the slide show that was presented, and a list of UPK Providers:

STEP ONE (1): FILL OUT AN ONLINE REGISTRATION APPLICATION FOR YOUR CHILD(REN):

Registration for Families with a Parent Portal Account: If you have a child currently enrolled in the Pearl River School District and have a Parent Portal login, please click on the link below. When you get to the login screen, enter in your Parent Portal login information. Once logged in, click "Parent Portal Registration” on the screen.

Registration for Families without a Parent Portal Account: If you are new to the Pearl River School District and you do not have a Parent Portal login, please click the link below to obtain your login.

If you have any questions about your Parent Portal account, please call the Office of Curriculum & Instruction at 845-620-3913.


STEP TWO (2): SUBMITTING DOCUMENTATION:

The following documentation must be provided to our Registration Office:

  1. Birth Certificate, Passport or other official documentation providing proof of birth.
     
  2. Parent/Legal Guardian’s Driver’s License or other government-issued identification.
    Custody Papers. If you are not the parent/legal guardian of a child you wish to register, we will require valid custody papers with all necessary information. Original custody papers are necessary in cases of divorce or re-marriage. 
     
  3. TWO proofs of residency within the Pearl River School District:
    1. For Homeowners: a current property tax bill, mortgage statement or deed.
    2. For Renters: a fully executed lease. If necessary, use this Landlord Affidavit Form.
    3. For Both: a current utility bill, cable bill, tax statement or bank statement.
       
  4. Health Examination Form. In accordance with New York State regulations, student physical examinations are required for all students entering the Pearl River School District. Please submit the most current examination form completed by your child's physician: Required NYS School Health Examination Form.  Per NYS, this is the only health examination form that can be accepted by the District.
     
  5. Immunization record. The most up to date immunization record must accompany the School Health Examination Form. Please review the NYS Health Department's immunization requirements for all students: NYS Current Immunization Requirement.
     
  6. Complete Registration Packet.

  7. Submit all documents and forms via email, fax or an appointment drop-off.
    1. Email: to registration@pearlriver.org, please include 'UPK Registration' in the subject line 
    2. Fax: to 845-920-0494. Please include ‘UPK Registration' on the cover sheet. 
    3. Call: 845-620-3913 to make an appointment to bring your documents to District Office, 135 West Crooked Hill Road, Pearl River, NY 10965.

STEP THREE (3): 
The District will review the documents and forms. If necessary, we will reach out to families for any missing or incomplete documents or forms. If all required documents and forms are reviewed and complete, f
amilies will be invited to a universal pre-kindergarten information session and UPK lottery form.

STEP FOUR (4):
Families will submit the UPK Lottery Form.

STEP FIVE (5):
Rockland BOCES will inform families about their lottery selection.


STEP SIX (6):
At the universal prekindergarten session, families will be required to provide an original copy of the verification of proof of birth, ie. raised seal birth certificate or passport.
