Absentee Voting

Absentee Ballots for the 2026-27 School Budget Vote, Capital Improvements Bond Vote & Board of Education Election must be received by 5:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, via USPS mail or drop-off to:

In the event that a resident voter does not feel that there is enough time to return ballots via USPS mail, sealed ballots can be dropped off at a contactless drop box located inside the main entrance of the Pearl River School District Administration Building at 135 West Crooked Hill Road during business hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM,  Monday through Friday. The box will also be available on the day of the budget vote, Tuesday, May 19, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
 

Absentee Ballot reminders:

  1. Please be sure to sign the oath on the back of the envelope. Unsigned ballots cannot be counted.
     
  2. If there are multiple registered voters in the household, each ballot must be sent in its own oath envelope, with the oath signature of the corresponding pre-printed name on the front of the envelope.  Envelopes containing multiple ballots cannot be counted.
     
  3. Ballots must be received by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19. Any ballots received after 5:00 PM, regardless of the USPS postal date, cannot be counted.

Board of Education Election

There is one seat open for the Board of Education, currently held by Dr. Kathleen Ann Kelley. Dr. Kelley has informed the District that she will be seeking re-election to the Board of Education. The term commences on July 1, 2026 and runs through June 30, 2029. Elections will be held on Tuesday, May 19th, together with the Annual School Budget Vote.

Dr. Kelley is running unopposed. As there is only one candidate, the 2026-27 Candidates’ Night that was tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 12th is cancelled.

Voter Registration

In order to vote in the upcoming 2026-27 School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election, voters must be registered with the Rockland County Board of Elections or Pearl River School District.  If you are registered but (1) have not voted in a general or school election since 2022, (2) have recently moved into the district, or (3) have moved from one address to another within the district, you must re-register. You can register online through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website at NYS Electronic Voter Registration Application.

If you would like to check your registration status, visit the NY Board of Elections website.  Please note that the polling site listed on your NY Board of Elections account is for general elections. All voting for our school budget will take at Pearl River High School’s Pirate Cove.


To be eligible to register, you must be:

  1. 18 years of age or older on the day of the vote;
  2. A citizen of the United States;
  3. A resident of the Pearl River School District for at least 30 days prior to the day of the vote.
